Award wage increase
On 2 June 2015, the Fair Work Commission ordered that the national minimum wage by increased by $16 per week in this year’s annual wage review decision.
This equates to a 2.5% increase and means that the new weekly minimum wage will be $656.90, or $17.29 an hour, from 1 July 2015.
Employers should review the wage rates of any of their employees paid at or near the minimum rate so as to ensure that no underpayments occur.
